This guide breaks down SWRL’s condition categories, what they actually mean, how to spot visible wear, and what photos are required so you always know what you’re getting without any surprises.
Our condition categories
SWRL uses five simple condition ratings. Sellers & lenders are expected to clearly mention any visible flaws (if present), such as stains, spots, creases, loose stitches, or wear, and price the item accordingly.
🆕 Brand new with tags
Unused, with original tags attached. No wear, damage, or alterations.
Best for: A truly never-worn experience.
✨ Brand new without tags
Never worn, tags removed. Pristine condition with no stains, marks, or defects.
Best for: New pieces without the full retail price.
🌟 Very good condition
Gently used with minimal signs of wear on close inspection. No major flaws.
Examples: Light creasing, minor sole wear, slight hardware ageing.
👍 Good condition
Well-worn and well cared for, with visible use. Minor flaws are disclosed.
Examples: Small stains, light pilling, minor stitch or edge wear.
♻️ Fair condition
Noticeably used with clear signs of wear or repair, fully disclosed.
Examples: Visible stains, alterations, significant creasing.
Best for: Budget finds or character-rich pieces.
Disclosure of flaws
SWRL does not restrict sellers/lenders with rigid rules on flaw counts. Instead, we rely on honest disclosure.
Sellers/lenders are expected to clearly mention:
– Stains or spots
– Fabric creases or wear
– Stitching issues or repairs
– Hardware scratches or fading

Clear photos help buyers verify the condition and authenticity of the item. Below are SWRL’s photo requirements by category.
Footwear
Required: Overall image, insole (front), outsole, size & model print
Optional: Box label, inside stitch, insole (back), logo close-up, tongue labels, zipper head (front & back) + up to 2 extra photos
Garments (dresses, tops, sarees, sets, etc.)
Required: Overall image, collar label (front), size tag
Optional: Swing tag, washing label, back collar, hardware engravings, hologram/QR label, packaging, zipper head (front & back) + up to 2 extra photos
Bags
Required: Overall image, brand logo, hardware engravings, inside label
Optional: Made-in label, serial number, authenticity card, dust bag, hologram/QR label, logo close-up, strap clasp, zipper head (front & back) + up to 2 extra photos
