The Chanel 25 Small costs ₹7,14,400 in India this year.
Yep.
Over 7 lakhs, for a bag most people pick off a mirror selfie while the phone that has to live inside it sits charging on the bedside table.
So before anyone swipes a card, let’s do the sensible thing and talk about what actually goes in it.
The short version:
Below: the real dimensions, which size survives a sangeet that runs till 2am, what each one costs in India in 2026, and how to make a bag this expensive pay its own way.

The Chanel 25 is a slouchy, quilted hobo bag with a drawstring top, one chunky chain strap and two side pockets that snap shut with CC closures. It first walked in Chanel’s Cruise 2024/25 collection and landed in boutiques in November 2024. The number in the name follows a habit Chanel started with the Chanel 22, which Virginie Viard named for the year it was born.
The easiest way to picture it: the Classic Flap’s off duty cousin. Flatter quilting, a bigger CC, a heavier chain, and a shape that relaxes into your side instead of standing to attention.Inside, you get one main compartment, a patch pocket and a small internal pouch. Two things nobody puts in the campaign:There is no zip, only a drawstring. In a packed mehendi, that matters. And the chain is a SHOULDER chain. It is too short to wear crossbody, which is why the medium and large come with a leather shoulder pad to take the weight.
If you only remember one thing from this table, make it this: the jump from small to medium is the big one. Ten centimetres wider, four taller, and suddenly you are carrying a day bag instead of a handbag.
| Size | Dimensions (cm) | Best for | Fits a 13 inch laptop | Price in India, 2026 |

| Mini | 20 x 22 x 12.5 | Evenings, functions, essentials only | No | ₹6,23,700 |
| Small | 30 x 26 x 14 | Everyday, brunch, travel days | No | ₹7,14,400 |
| Medium | 40 x 30 x 15 | Workdays, flights, carrying a second bag | No, tablet only | ₹7,59,800 |
| Large | 42 x 36 x 15 | Office, long travel days | Yes | ₹8,27,800 |
Chanel revises prices through the year, so check a boutique before you buy.
The mini is the baby of the family, released in November 2025.

What fits: a phone, a cardholder, keys, a lipstick or compact, and a mini perfume or sanitiser if you are the organised friend. The tiny side pockets are for cards, receipts and lip balm.
What doesn’t: a long wallet, a tablet, or the water bottle you will desperately want by hour three of a baraat.
The blunt version: ₹7,14,400 is a lot of money for a bag that carries four things. We would only buy it if your evenings already outnumber your errands.

What fits: a phone, a slim wallet, sunglasses, keys and a few makeup pieces. The side pockets suit a cardholder or a smaller phone. If you carry a Pro Max, it lives inside. It is also roomier than it looks. A Hermès Mini Kelly fits inside a small, which is a very 2026 sentence to write.
Our pick: if you are buying one Chanel 25 for India, make it this one. It goes from Saturday lunch at Khan Market to cocktails without looking like it packed for either.

What fits: a tablet, a notebook, a compact umbrella and your daily essentials. PurseBop says it can swallow a Birkin 25 or a Kelly 25 whole. The side pockets take an iPhone 16 Pro, AirPods or a cardholder. This is your Delhi to Mumbai flight bag: the carry on by day, with the evening bag tucked inside for dinner.

What fits: a 13 inch laptop, documents, a full wallet and a couple of pouches. It still cinches shut at the top, so it reads handbag, not office tote. One honest warning from owner feedback : load it up and the chain starts to dig into your shoulder. Test it FULL in the boutique, not empty.
Wedding season changes the maths completely. A mehendi bag has a job description: hold a phone permanently on 8 percent, a shagun envelope that cannot get crushed, safety pins for someone else’s dupatta emergency, and the lipstick you will reapply after dinner.
What this looks like in practice:
| Occasion | Size we would carry | What to pack |
|---|---|---|
| Sangeet or cocktail night | Mini | Phone, cardholder, lipstick, safety pins, a small perfume |
| Wedding day as a guest | Mini or small | All of the above, plus the shagun envelope and a compact |
| Brunch, lunch, shopping | Small | Phone, slim wallet, sunglasses, keys, a lip and cheek tint |
| Workday with meetings | Medium | Tablet, notebook, charger, cardholder, a folding umbrella |
| Flight or destination wedding travel | Medium or large | Passport, tablet or laptop, headphones, a smaller evening bag tucked inside |
| Office with a laptop | Large | 13 inch laptop, documents, wallet, a pouch or two |
Lehenga day tip: no zip means nothing locks. Keep anything valuable in the inner pouch, not loose at the top of the bag.
Time for the maths nobody does at the boutique counter. A Chanel 25 Small at ₹7,14,400, carried 30 times a year, works out to about ₹23,813 every time it leaves the house. Carry it 10 times, because it is too precious for an auto or too pale for the monsoon, and that number becomes ₹71,400 an outing. And prices only move one way. Chanel increases prices twice a year, the small going from ₹5,42,200 in 2025 to ₹7,14,400 in 2026, and the large from ₹6,35,700 to ₹8,27,800. That is roughly 23 to 28 percent up in a single year.
The takeaway: a bag at this price should work for a living.

Four: mini (20 x 22 x 12.5 cm), small (30 x 26 x 14 cm), medium (40 x 30 x 15 cm) and large (42 x 36 x 15 cm). There is also a Chanel 25 backpack in two sizes.
Only in the large, which takes a 13 inch laptop. The medium fits a tablet but is not built for a laptop.
In 2026, the Chanel 25 in grained calfskin costs ₹7,14,400 for the small, ₹7,59,800 for the medium and ₹8,27,800 for the large. The mini starts at around ₹6,23,000 depending on the material.
The small, for most people. It carries a full day of essentials, still works for evenings, and is the most requested.
No. It has a single chain designed for shoulder or hand carry, and the chain is too short to wear across the body. The Chanel 25 backpack is the hands free option.
No. It closes with a drawstring at the top, and the two side pockets close with CC fastenings.
Only if it leaves the house. At over ₹7 lakh for the small, the Chanel 25 makes sense when you carry it every week, or when it earns its keep by being lent out between your own outings. A bag that lives in a dust bag is the most expensive kind there is.
One last bit of homework: empty the bag you actually carry onto your bed, charger and all, and hold the pile up against the size table. If it fits the small, buy the small.
